The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is an advanced practice nursing role in the operating room that functions in an expanded nursing role, while coordinating patient care through the perioperative phase. Responsible for carrying out the functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
